In
the new issue of Total Film, director Tim Burton
told Richard Jordan
how he intends
Dark Shadows, which
Jordan describes as
Burton would agree,
especially with "a story of family dysfunction that vampires,
witches, and a
surprising amount of heart. "focus on
the family unit:"
What I like
about Shadows, it is a story about
family, "Burton explains. "I grew up resisting
family and then
as I grew older, I realized what a strange and chaotic,
but important thing it is. I think all families are pretty weird .... We just
try to supernatural elements in the real difficulties
that families face
to call, as the
feeling of a
teenager growing up, when your body changes and you're angry
at all, or the challenge to try
the family together to keep - whether
they are alive
or dead! "
