Yes, it finally happened! On Sunday, May 13th Johnny will receive an honoraryDoctorite of the University of Western Kentucky.
Dr. John Christopher Depp, a doctorate in Fine Arts.
The degree is in honor of his study and understanding of theater and performing arts and sciences, including his musical talent and ability. Individuals of national or international prominence whose contributions strengthen the community as a whole.Nominations for honorary degrees solicited from the campus community, and recipients are chosen by a committee of faculty members. Western Kentucky University awards honorary degrees to individuals who are exemplary contributions to the university, state, nation, or made the world. Recipients of honorary degrees will be recognized for their general excellence and for theirextraordinary achievements in the areas of human activity that the ideals and goals of the University reflects.
The degree will be presented by Professor Johnny Stevens by Cheryl Dean of science and technology wku.
The University is located near Johnny's hometown Owensboro. Thecommencement ceremony will take place at 2:30 at the River Park Center.
President Gary Ransdell of the university will preside.
