Patti Smith
talked about his new album 'Banga', which was released earlier this week, and
the role played by Johnny Depp in his creation.
Hollywood actor and musician - he played guitar with The Black Keys at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday (June 3) - features the album's title track.
Smith
told Spinner that Depp called the idea of the song while he was
filming The Rum Diary. Then she
recorded her singing the song a capella on the line. "Then,
Johnny said he was sending me lest I forget," said Smith. "So
I'm waiting and waiting and he did not send it! He said:" Johnny, where is
'Banga'? 'He
said,' Oh, I get. "And [when] I have it, he put the drums, guitars, all
that [it]! So the first minute of the song is to me and Johnny Depp."
As a tribute to Amy Winehouse, the album closes with a cover of Neil Young's After the Gold Rush '. Smith says he finished the album with this track because I wanted the record to close as "a breath of spring." She told Spinner, "I was sitting in a cafe drinking coffee and" After the Gold Rush "came on and I realized that the first two verses of 'After the Gold Rush," said everything I wanted to say t .. I did not think I could say it better. "Smith is rumored to support young people in their fall tour recently announced North America.
'Banga' is Smith's first album since 'Twelve' his record of 2,007 covers and his first album of original material since 2004's 'Trampin'. ?
